I HATE the hospital

Unfortunately I spent Thursday-Saturday in the hospital. Weird. Saturday morning when we woke up I had some abdominal pain on the low right side. We went on a walk and it only got worse. We ate and I tried laying down for a while, but the pain wouldn't go away. My midwife finally recommended I go to the emergency room because the pain was getting to be really intolerable. We got the emergency room at about 3pm on thursday. They gave me an IV and took my blood and starting testing for an appendicitis. The pain was excruciating by about 4 or 5, but I wasn't sick with a fever or nausea so it was hard to believe it could be an appendicitis. At about 11:30pm they took me in for an ultrasound to see if they could see my appendix but the baby was in the way. We were in the ER until about 2:30am when they finally got us into a room. We of course were not thrilled about staying in the hospital, but we didn't know what was wrong and they insisted. After sleeping from about 3am to 5am they came in and woke us up to take more blood. They did another ultrasound that morning and an MRI later that day. For those of you that know me, you know I don't like modern medicine and all the stuff they do at the hospital. I wasn't thrilled about getting so many ultrasounds or an MRI done because they don't know the long term effects on the baby, but I had no choice. In addition to the testing they were pumping antibiotics into my IV, which I also hate, and they wouldn't let me eat or drink anything. Hello, don't they know I'm pregnant! After all the testing they said things were normal and they finally let me have some liquids after about 35 hours of not eating or drinking!!! Chicken broth and apple juice has NEVER tasted so good. It was the best meal of my life! The doctor instructed that I have a liquid diet till the next morning (saturday) and then they would let me eat solids to see if my white blood count went up or if anything happened. I was annoyed by this not wanting to stay another second if I didn't need to. So they finally agreed to let me eat solids that night to just get it over with. Better that I know sooner than later if it was going to make me sick. Derek brought me some beans and rice in tortillas, which of course was also delicious and I felt pretty good. It did irritate my stomach again a bit, but nothing to cry about. The next morning my blood was normal and I was feeling pretty good so they said I could go home. Too bad the nurse thought I didn't have a ride or something so while I was waiting for her to discharge me she was waiting for me to say I was leaving. I was so annoyed, I could have left at 9:30am on Saturday instead of 12:30, but they were idiots. I was glad I finally asked how long it was going to take to be discharged. I NEVER WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL AGAIN! Derek and I agreed that we were so glad we weren't having the baby in a hospital. It was an awful 3 days of little sleep, no food, lots of medical stuff that I hate, and a lot of getting my blood taken. Both of my arms are so sore from the IV and from getting my blood drawn 4 times. The annoying part is in the end they couldn't even tell me what was wrong. I'm so glad to be home!

I'm so glad everything is okay Talane! I hope you don't have anymore issues. Being pregnant is hard enough, right?
