texas wild life

Squirrel - You think they're your friends, but they're not. They'll do all they can to kill your plants sitting on your porch.
Mosquitos- Small but very ferocious, wretched bugs! They are everywhere and more potent here for sure. The bites itch and itch and itch. They have caused much discomfort.

froggies-cute and harmless, but abundant in our yard. Just above the mosquitoes in the food chain. We love them.

Large wood cockroach-words can't describe these filthy creatures. For a while we were getting a few of these visitors a week. They're so nasty you can actually here them scurry across the floor. Ewwww. This is a small one compared to others who have entered our domain.

Common Name: Puss caterpillar or "asp"-Among the long body hairs are shorter spines that discharge venom upon contact.
Derek, the scientist, brought four of these furry demons home one day for pets. This was before we knew they were poisonous! One was trying to escape so Talane (still thinking they were cute fussy caterpillars) pushed it back in the jar...and then soon after itched her eye with the same finger...leading to a very painful burning sensation...Her eye burned and itched and was swollen for the rest of the evening. Dumb asps, had to free 'em.
